Last night in Kuching, Chong Wei was again not in his best shape but it did not stop him from getting ever closer to a hat-trick of titles as he advanced to the semi-finals.
KUCHING, June 18 (Bernama) -- Top national shuttler Lee Chong Wei's dream of lifting the men's singles title at the Malaysia Open Badminton championship for the third time consecutively became a reality when he beat China's Lin Dan 21-18, 18-21, 23-21 in the final at Stadium Perpaduan Sunday.With solid support from the approximately 6,000 crowd, Chong Wei proved that he was capable of giving a credible challenge to the world number one despite trailing 13-20 in the decider.With the victory, Chong Wei walked away with the cash prize of US9,600."I find it hard to believe because I was trailing 13-20 at one point," he told reporters here after the game.Chong Wei, who had beaten Lin Dan twice in their five encounters, said that after managing to narrow down the gap 18-20, he could sense that Lin Dan was feeling the pressure.In the women's singles, world number one Zhang Ning, from China, beat England's Tracey Hallam 21-12, 21-13, to take home the US$8,280 prize money.It was also Zang Ning's third consecutive win in the Malaysia Open since 2004.In the women's doubles, world number one pair Gao Ling/Huang Sui from China beat compatriots Du Jing/Yu Yang 9-21, 21-16, 21-17 to grab the prize money of US$7,320.In the all-Malaysian men's doubles, Koo Kien Keat/Chan Chong Ming beat Lin Woon Fui/Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari 14-21,21-11, 21-17The victory enabled the world's seventh doubles pair to walk away with the prize money of US$8,640.In the mixed doubles, Zhang Jun/Gao Ling of China beat Jonas Rasmussen/ Britta Andersen of Denmark 19-21,21-14,21-15 for the title and prize money of US$7,320.

CHONG WEI ROCKZ! Chong Wei is our HERO! Wao.... I tot he sure lose when LinDan is leading 20-13.... Hw cud LinDan not able to win dat 1 score when Chong Wei is 7 points behind? it's a wonder.... I really pity him la.... But, haih... wad to do... im a malaysian...kakaka~ ofcoz support chong wei la.... LinDan did a very embarrassing things in front of every1 aft he lose though.... din even shake hand with chong wei aft the game ends.... then during the prize givin, he din even wear the hat.... so damn rude... n yea... he oso got a red card for kicking his racket right after the game ends. Sigh...but wad a things a world badminton champion hav done.... real embarrassing.... sia soi my face as a chinese... so not sporting.... Ow, while LinDan is upseting, Chong Wei knelt down on the floor... i think he's in tears..speechless...and...touched.... The crowd cheered soooooo LOUD and HARD.... this is the 1st time i ever felt sooooo satisfied and high...HAHAHA....n oso the 1st time i cheered like siao lang...The Danish are sooooo sporting.... they're still waving at us even after they lose... HAHAHA~ cool.... overall the whole RM 30 tix is really worth it... not a waste at all.... hahaha~ And, well, after everything finally comes to an end, me n my bros went out... it's already dark... N hahah~ we cant find our car.... JENG! we walked around the stadium looking for our car in the dark..... my gosh.... so tiring... we found our car ofcoz.... if not i wont blog bout malaysia boleh..... Well well.... dat's how i spent my Sunday.... HAHAH~ neglecting most of my homework.... terukz~
